DANNY ALDRED

Danny Aldred (b 1972, Suffolk) is a visual artist based in England. He trained as a graphic designer and went onto work commercially within the design industry. He recently completed an MA in Book Arts at Camberwell College of Arts (London) and is a Graphic Arts tutor at Winchester School of Art.

‘My work explores themes of absence and the polychotomies of past, present, order and unpredictability. Through this I explore how to re-construct and create connections and ideas through that which would normally go unnoticed. I am interested in the sense of journey within the work, both real and imagined’

ELANA KATZ

Elana Katz is an American artist currently based in Berlin. Her most recent work focuses on consciousness of time, historical perception, and locations of erased history. Dealing with the body through performance is a fundamental aspect of her artistic practice. Working often from a historical basis, Katz’s work confronts cultural conventions, critically examines the complexity that lies within contradictions, and thus aims to create, in one way or another, an experience of unlearning the assumed. Her recent grants have included the DAAD Graduate Studies Grant (2010) and the Franklin Furnace Fund for Performance Art (2011). She participated as a re-performer at Marina Abramovic’s retrospective at MoMA in New York, and has recently exhibited/performed at Location One of New York, USA (2011) Content @ Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, Japan (2011), and Musée Royaux des Beaux Arts de Belgique, Belgium (2011).

JEAN-ULRICK DESERT

Jean-Ulrick Désert Born in Port-au-prince, Jean-Ulrick Désert received his degrees at Cooper Union and Columbia University (New York). Emerging from a tradition of conceptual-work engaged with social/cultural practices, his artworks vary in forms such as billboards, actions, paintings, site-specific sculptures, video and objects. Known for his “Negerhosen2000” and his provocative “Burqa Project”, Désert often combines cultural iconographies and historical metaphor to disrupt, alter and shift pre-supposed meaning.
He has said his practice may be characterized as visualizing “conspicuous invisibility”.  Désert has exhibited widely at such venues as The Brooklyn Museum, Cité Internationale des Arts, The Neue Gesellschaft für Bildende Kunst and  in galleries and public venues . He lives and works in Berlin, Germany.
